Trivial Matters That Matter.

Well, I must say that I am impressed in that three of my people herd at the Library on Thursday night won the 2007 Trivia Challenge. Trivia Challenge is an annual fundraising and awareness raising event for my Library's Literacy Services. I always suspected that this group was trivial in nature and I guess this confirms it! Truth be told, as all three of the team members work in my primary area of the Library and I am very proud of their winning the Trivia Challenge and am glad that they take part in such a good cause. Hhhmm, I wonder, perhaps I should form a Moose team for next year?

Favorites Books.

I just heard or should that be herd? that my owner was asked to provide some favorite books of his for a patron to read...so I thought that I'd mention one of my favorite books, "A Chocolate Moose for Dinner" by Fred Gwynne. Yep, that Fred Gwynne, best known for playing Herman Munster on TV, he was also an author and illustrator and while I first thought that the title was pretty horrific sounding to a Moose like me, I have learned in my time living in the library to never judge a book by its title! As bad as it may sound, Chocolate Moose is full of witty takes on puns and wordplay. Fun artwork too! A fun, and favorite book of mine, I like to read it to my herdmates at night when the library is closed and while I don't own a copy myself, my library does so it is pretty handy to find and share. I will have to post about more favorite books, etc. in the future. If you've not read it, try it and enjoy!

Herd Member Spotlight of the Week.

One of the things that I want to do is to introduce everyone to my fellow herd members. Over the years, I have acquired a good sized herd of fellow moose [and a dog, an alien, a cow and a ... ]. This week's spotlight is a very special member of my herd. He first appeared in November of last year and holds a special place in my owner's heart as his Mom arranged for purchase during a visit to the LA Zoo. My owner wanted this herd member to be the first in the spotlight in hopes that it will cheer his Mom up a bit today and give her a smile as she is facing a very serious medical condition.

How do you feed a hungry Moose?

When I started this blog, I intended it to be positive in nature, however I wonder if my people are jealous of my spreading popularity and fame? First I go a couple of days without my accustomed, luxurious and colorful furnishings and now, to be blunt... I AM HUNGRY!! I cannot generously provide my moosey treats for my people unless my people provide me with food. It is basic give and take, feed me and I will feed you in return. What did I do to offend my owner and I do apologize if I did something to hurt your feelings please let me know and let us talk about the issue involved. I don't want to air hurt feelings in a public forum but a Moose has to do what a Moose has got to do.

A Moose for all seasons.

I thought that I would share a picture or two of me, unadorned in barren season. This is how I frequently looked back in the day when I first arrived at the Library. I have noticed that people always talk about having four seasons, winter, spring, summer and fall and how their habitat changes color and the such as their seasons change. Perhaps it is something in the air, but it seems to this Moose that he encounters far more seasons that change in his habitat. It was St. Patrick's Day season or green season and right now, I seem to be dealing with barren season. In recent years barren season rarely occurs and I moose say that I miss my colorful environs. Hopefully my owner, the provider of seasons will provide me with my expected, colorful environment.

Pictures of my cousins.

I recently received some pictures of my moose cousins. From the lack of pigmentation, I believe that they are from the far northern branch of the family, my Dad's side and just don't get enough sun.

Technology moose.

I must say, that having been exposed to technology and its uses at the library has paid off for this moose. I can email, have my own blog and now can use email to post onto my blog! Not too bad for a moose is it.

Welcome to my world!

Hello friends, both old and new, and welcome to the land of the Library Moose. From time-to-time, I will jot my thoughts down about my library life and in-depth study of my home environment and those curious creatures that I encounter known as people.

Currenly my home is decorated in green, so I wish everyone a Happy St. Patrick's Day!
