Woooo hoooo...just look at the pics from the Owner. While he is away in Dallas at The SirsiDynix Conference, he has remembered that it all is about the Moose [me] and is bringing back SirsiDynix swag. A SD monkey to join the herd and some cool [or perhaps hot is more appropriate?] strand of Chili Fresh beads [perfect for the upcoming Cinco de Mooso celebration.] I've been worried that he has somewhat neglected me of late but this proves that the old boy still knows what is important in life, keeping the Moose satisfied.

To bail or not to bail that is the question!

As you can see, one of the dark secrets that I, The Library Moose, as well as, my herdmates have to live with is the undeniable fact that my owner is a habitual "jailbird". This coming Thursday, March 26, the owner is going to jail for "The MDA Lock-up". You can help my owner post bail by making a contribution at his MDA website.

While it looks like he will squeak by, post bail and escape serious jail time, I hope you might consider helping him out. I am not sure whether or not California's "three strikes" law applies in his case. Besides the ongoing debate over whether the owner is "guilty" or "innocent", as the photos prove, he doesn't look good in stipes!

A past comment wondered if there were any other herd members, besides dog, who were not genuine actual Moose. Here is herd member "Toy Story Alien" who could be considered a Moose on his planet or origin. That is hard to say, not knowing what his planet of origin is, not to mention how the concept of Moose translates into his native tongue.

TSA, also has the distinction of being one of the first three original members of my herd. Only Moosecow and Moose Muffin have been hanging with me at the library for a longer time.

I know that my many fans have been wondering, Library Moose, where have you been? Why haven't you been keeping us up-to-date on your amoosing adventures? Why so moosterious and quiet?

Well, the picture tells a 1,000 word story.

When it became apparent that Gov. Sarah Palin would wind up running for the office of Vice President, myself, my herd and my species became highly concerned. I mean, look at it from our point of view, you people were considering electing a woman who was known to kill, gut, clean and eat my kind! How would you feel if France was going to possibly elect a person who like to kill and eat Americans? With that facing all of moosekind, we made a decision that now was the time to lay low and take cover, we did not want to provoke any sort of response from Gov. Palin or the American voter.

Us Moose are not really known for being, shall we say "political animals". The only time we've dipped our hooves into such waters was way back in 1912 with Teddy Roosevelt's "Bull Moose" party. That didn't turn out too well did it so all of us Moose have been quiet throughout the political season, the transition to a new President and now after a couple of months, all of us Moose feel more secure about our futures and we now will begin to make our mooselves visible.

There are new herd members to introduce, and much more to catch up on!

Kay, shown with her new friend, at her retirement party last Friday. Which one is Kay you ask, why that is easy, she is the one with the good hair!

Kay has been a friend of The Library Moose, [how I've been invited to BV staff parties in the past] and I know that the Burbank Library will miss her. I do think that she missed the boat in going off on a vacation trip to hang around with Orangutans, given her good taste I'd've figured her for someone who'd go hang out with the most wonderful animals in the world...Moose!

Maybe she'll get it right on her next retiremen.

Whew...sorry not have have posted this earlier, but me and the herd have been partying of late celebrating the owner's birthday. His big day was Friday, and combine that with a 3 day weekend, well, we've been hitting the "moose juice" a big hard if you know what I mean! Here is a candid shot taken at the close of the day yesterday. As with all beautifully designed living spaces, the final results don't occur without much hard work. Cinco de Mayo is over and my fiesta habitat has been put away. What is next...well, I guess you'll just have to come back and see. Here I am reviewing the blueprints and about ready to get my work herd busy building and decorating. Do note that I am properly using safety cones, etc. in order to get the work done in a safe manner. Hope to see you soon!

Guilty or Innocent?

Well the owner reports that thanks to the generous support of family, friends and library staff, he was able to post bail during last Wednesday's MDA Jail Break. This moose was very impressed with the staff's support of his jailbird owner. All together he raised $1730 for MDA which easily met the bail amount. The owner brought back garlic bread from the Smokehouse and this moose has never, ever, seen a food item [not even his Moosey treats] disappear so rapidly! As the photo taken when he was booked, the sign may say innocent, but we all know he's guilty of looking bad in prison garb!

Help the owner raise bail!

Your local Library Moose, needs your help, well, that is my owner needs your help. From what I've heard the owner is going to jail on April 30 and needs to raise bail money. As you can see from the photo, this isn't his first brush with the law and frankly prison strips don't look good on him. The bail money is for a group called MDA and this is something the owner refers to as a charitable fundraiser. Well I too can support charity and so I the Library Moose, encourage my fans to help my owner stay out of jail or at least return after a short stint doing hard time. I worry that he might be strip searched....although the owner says that isn't possible. His jail time is to be served at a place called The Smokehouse, boy hard time sure has changed hasn't it, a chain gang it ain't...looks like a restaurant, and when it is mentioned at the library, everyone sure gets in a tizzy over stuff called garlic bread.

New herd members!

Boy was the owner suprised when he returned to work on Monday to find two new herd members waiting to meet him. One was sitting in his mailbox, the other one, [quite the large fellow isn't he] was perched up top of the mailboxes in the library. Being a Moose myself, I didn't know that we could climb to such heights. Well anyways, welcome to the herd boys!

My owner went to Detroit and all I got was nuts...and leftover Southwest Airline nuts at that! Not that I don't like nuts but really, wasn't there a handoutor give away from the vendor exhibits at his SirsiDynix Superconference that would have made a better souvenir for his loyal friend...namely me?

From what he confessed, the pickings were slim and the nuts were about as good a goodie as there was.

The owner said that many attendees have noticed a decline in such handouts, SirsiDynix used to have neat coffee mugs, one year cups, another year glowing pens as give aways. Company gets bigger, goodies disappear. Unfortunately, this is pretty much the case with most of the vendors. Maybe next year in Dallas will be better.

The owner has been in contact with me, he is back in town and will be back at work on Monday, although he will be found helping out at the Burbank READS program featuring retired astronaut, Vance Brand. He does say that he brought me back some goodies from his Detroit, SirsiDynix Superconference trip...I wonder what he got me? I love gifts, and as you may recall, when he went on his baseball trip last summer I got an autographed Moose Skowron baseball, I hope that this goodie is as good. But what does one get at a conference? Particularly a ILS conference, do you get a new server? A new piece of software? Time will tell but this Moose is very curious.

The owner is also quite happy in having finally found some Moose Drool beer at the local BevMo store.

I will let everyone know about my conference goodie as soon as I can...

Be careful, beware the "Evil Librarians"

Sssh, a quick update while the owner is in Detroit at a conference. I have come across and just read an amazingly frightening book that details that our world is ruled and governed by a class [not Dewey or LC either] of Evil Librarians. Well that would explain a lot of things to this moose that is for sure.

Read Alcatraz vs. the Evil Librarians by Brandon Sanderson for yourself and draw your own conclusions. Librarians will claim that this book is "juvenile fiction", I tell you it is the truth.

Be afraid, be very afraid.

My herd and I will try and do our best against this threat to society.

I am spending the day at the Buena Vista Branch Library where I'll be attending the staff's St. Patrick's Day luncheon. Yes, I'm wearing the green today and I hope to post some pictures of the event later on this week.

'Tis the season to celebrate Paddy O'Bunny Day! Yes it is a rarely celebrated holiday and one that only comes around now and then and never too often! It is a celebration of Leprechauns and Easter eggs, pastels and green, shamrocks and baby chicks. You know something else...I checked Chase's book on events and funny there is no listing for Paddy O'Bunny Day. You don't suppose that that owner of mine is just too lazy to do a quick change from St. Patrick's Day habitat to Easter habitat do you? He wouldn't just save himself some work and just toss the habitats together when he finds St. Patrick's Day and Easter bunched together on the calendar...he wouldn't do that would he?

In some other holiday news, I have received permission to attend Monday's St. Patrick's Day staff luncheon over at the Buena Vista Branch Library. I remember the fun party that I attended a year ago for Valentine's Day so I am going to put on some green and bring plenty of Moose treats to hand out. Rumor has it that the staff is doing a shamrock decorating contest and that my owner was one of the first to submit an entry. I know I will enjoy looking at the artistic endevors and wonder if I can figure out which one belongs to my owner. Hopefully I can get some photos from the party and will be able to post them post party.

Well they say better late than never, so we shall test this right now. Here is my owner's photo of last month's Valentines Day habitat. Yes I know that I have been rather quiet of late, but I will say that my owner had to spend 2 weeks attending to his family and he wasn't around to find out why my "Official Photographer" never took a photo. That is what I was waiting all this time to post...talk about unrequited love!

Your friendly, neighborhood Library Moose (like you have another) has
been receiving a number of valentines in his valentine's mailbox.
This year my admirers are noted film directors. Such noteworthies as
D.W. Griffith, Frank Capra, John Ford, Stephen Spielberg and the two
local Burbankians (Ron Howard and Tim Burton) have all left me notes
of admirmation and affection. Funny though, they are all on Harley
Davidson valentines. Bet they must have gotten a bulk purchase, with
the Writer's strike they must all be hurting financially! No offers
to turn my life's story into a major blockbuster film yet but you
never know.

Son of Moose Drool

Well really good news for all of us Burbankians (Moose and Human
alike) as the owner reports that he went by the new BevMo store in The
Empire Center and found that they carried "Moose Drool". Alas the
store was sold out but he has promised to migrate to BevMo regularly
and check for when more becomes available. The owner, in a show of
brewery solidarity did by some "Scape Goat". We all know that it
won't be nearly as amoosing a bouquet as "Moose Drool" but let him
keep his delusions.

Upcoming holiday.

The owner has been gleefully stating that this year will soon see a rare holiday, something called "Paddy O'Bunny Day". I guess I will have to wait and see what this is, as I don't have a recollection, and no habitat photographs exist to document this holiday. Sounds a bit unusual one Moost say.
